Our Story
Born from a love for cooking and a quest for exceptional ingredients, my future wife and I founded Cool Beans Vanilla. We’d grown tired of the lackluster options available and knew there had to be a better way. Our journey led us across the globe, connecting with masterful farmers dedicated to quality and sustainability.
Though this website is going up in late 2024, chances are you’ve probably already felt our impact.
The Beginning
Since the very first time I touched a vanilla bean this magnificent spice has gripped me. I was so taken aback by its beauty and scent that I had to know everything about it, and I needed to know about it, like, right now. Though exciting at first, the unfortunate truth is that the deeper I got… the more harsh truths I uncovered.
When I made my first ever overseas order I received nothing in return for my payment. The exact same thing happened with my second order. At least the third person I tried to order from was kind enough to send me a bundle of sticks, weighing the same amount as the vanilla that had been promised, in its place. I quickly realized this wasn’t going to be as easy as I’d thought.
We're all already aware of well-known problems like big corporations storing vanilla in unsafe conditions and inflating prices to absurd heights, but really- there's so much more than just that. From unthinkable things like rehydrating spent vanilla beans to be sold as Grade A to shortcutting trade channels and circumventing legitimate certifications, the industry is rife with trickery - which not only hurts innocent people but also takes from the farmers themselves.

Determined to make this right and share our passion for exceptional vanilla with the world, we transitioned from home cooks to business owners. Our mission was clear - to connect directly with the farmers and individuals who value quality and sustainability as much as we do. With this vision, we founded Cool Beans Vanilla—a brand dedicated to offering the best vanilla products to fellow enthusiasts who not only appreciate using the finest ingredients, but also care about the planet and our future.
While all vanilla beans possess their own unique charm and should be celebrated worldwide, the vanilla beans from the Indonesian Archipelago - spanning a vast area covering thousands of islands across Southeast Asia and Oceania - hold a special place in our hearts. The vanilla beans from this region benefit from many different factors.
Environmentally, the climate is perfect for cultivating vanilla beans. The combination of lush rainforests, fertile volcanic soil, and the equatorial sun ensures that each bean develops to its full potential. The rich biodiversity of the islands and the varied geography across the archipelago, with different altitudes, microclimates, and soil types are equally as important.

Certainly more important, though, are the people who live here. The people of Indonesia are filled with hope, love and kindness and we see that as a huge inspiration. Our Impact
Our mission transcends simply providing high-quality vanilla; it's about fostering connections and creating a positive ripple effect within the community. For the past half decade we've been bringing quality vanilla over from Indonesia and blending it with the existing vanilla available in the United States. This harmonious integration has introduced a new, higher standard of quality within the vanilla market.
Throughout our journey we've had the privilege of conversing 1-on-1 with over 20,000 vanilla lovers as well as distributing to a ton of business across various industries. From bakeries to breweries, each conversation and connection has allowed us to improve our understanding of the struggles and problems that real people are having. Even now, we still spend hours per day talking to our customers- putting us in the best position possible to bring about real change in the vanilla industry.
These past 5 years have really given us the opportunity to share the rich story behind our vanilla by educating others about its origins and the sustainable farming practices that produce it. This outreach has sparked a growing appreciation for premium vanilla and its role in culinary arts, inspiring chefs and home cooks alike to explore new possibilities in their kitchens and beyond.

If you’ve made it this far, thank you! Your support means the world to me. I just finished writing this page, but if you would allow me I’d love to say just one last thing.
I started this journey alone and it was tough for a long time. After sharing and distributing vanilla to everyone in my hometown and surrounding areas, I realized that I had to move to a bigger area in order to reach more people. I eventually decided on Salt Lake City, UT which is where I met my future wife Keaira.
Undoubtably the most loving and caring person I’ve ever met, her compssion spans far beyond just the people she interacts with on a daily basis. With a heart full of love and empathy she has this incredible ability to understand and share in the true feelings of others. She's taught me empathy where I lacked it, even when I had the best of intentions. It doesn't stop at her care for people as she’s also deeply committed to the environment. She understands the importance of nurturing the world around us and taking conscious steps to protect and preserve it.
Her dedication to others and the planet is truly inspiring, making her not only an amazing partner (the best in fact!) but also a beacon of hope and kindness in the world. She’s the reason Cool Beans Vanilla is what it is today, and I just wanted to thank her for everything.
